I want my artwork to show a respect for the medium, clear composition and authentic reflections of my personal experiences and observations. I learn and enjoy the process of creating each work. If it meets my expectations, I am always thrilled. If it does not, I put it aside and go to it later.
I use a variety of art materials (watercolors, acrylics, pastels), but am most fond of pastels, which incorporate both drawing and painting techniques, and require a minimum of associated materials and supplies.
I have spent some years working mostly with landscapes and still life, but I am currently working on a series of figurative paintings and drawings (which I refer to as the “sanctuary series”).
I chair the Exhibit Team for the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art (Hamilton Field, Marin County, California), and assist in the curating of local, regional and national art exhibits. I appreciate producing shows that highlight those (young or old) who are beginning their working lives as artists Colleen was born in 1946, and attended college for an immoderate amount of time in the 1960s and 1970s at San Diego State University and U.C. Berkeley. She is a beginning flute player, and has practiced t’ai chi for many years. |
